II. Narrative Description of Community

Use the data you collected above to develop a series of paragraphs that describe your community (zip code) and draw comparisons with the rest of the state and / or district. Here is an example of how to do this.

Lawndale, located on Chicago's south side, is a predominantly Hispanic community. With an overwhelming 86.2% of the population Hispanic this is a sharp concentration compared to the state of Illinois that only has a Hispanic community of 16.1%. This community is also in poverty with and average of 15.6% of families below the poverty line which is significantly higher than the state of Illinois which has only 11% of families below the poverty line.
